milestone : we moved in!

the big news of the weekend is that we finally moved! all of our stuff is in, and there are two rooms of just boxes. it's sad. we don't even have bath mats down yet, and all our toiletries are sitting in a box in the corner of the bathroom to be searched when something is needed. but, we're moved!!

we've mentioned how much work the lawn needs, and while we've been doing quite a bit of weeding, we finally decided the biggest, fastest change we could really make was to cut it. so we bought this black and decker electric lawn mower at home depot and a 100 ft extension cord and james went to town.

obviously it's still patchy and unhealthy, but just getting all of it cut was a huge improvement (even though it's hard to really tell from the pictures). next we need to finish pulling up all the weeds and put down some grass patch, and water the darn thing. it's been hard since we haven't actually moved in yet, but we're getting there slowly.

purchased: yellow cake plate!

i have never owned a cake stand before. nor do i really bake cakes (though i'm hoping that will change with the new spacious kitchen). but i saw this yellow cake stand over at the local target and i couldn't resist. i love the color. i love the curvy ornate details. and it looks great on the marble countertop, doesn't it?

i also bought the little glass sugar bowl you see to use as a salt cellar, among other fun and cute things i had not been planning on buying when entering the store. target is dangerous.
